[Typo3-dev] PHP requirements for TYPO3

Hi Folks.

Question: Anyone knows from which PHP version this syntax was available:

$string{$a}

And am I right that this is the PHp5 compatible syntax (contrary to
$string[$a] which AFAIK will be outdated).

BTW; The lower requiements for TYPO3 is PHP 4.0.6 - I'm not even aware
if that is really true regarding the core (I think...) but does any of
you see reasons to raise the limit, in that case why and to which
version?
